Day 2, Day 3, Day 4....

What day is it!? These past couple days have been a blur... sorry I am so behind on my blog already, haha we will see how long this lasts! Anyways, these past couple days have been nonstop eating, laughing, site seeing, and shopping. The trip is off to an outstanding start!

Yesterday we tried and finally succeeded in making it to the port, Pireaus! Don't worry dad, we did not get on a sailboat :) On our way there we were told by multiple people to get off the metro for it stopped running, then we headed to the bus for the rest of the way... How to get a bus ticket?! hm.... after searching up and down the street looking awfully lost we finally then asked a young man who told us to go to the convenient store across the way, not there! then we finally were told that the mini stands sell them for 1 euro, finally we were on our way to Piraeus on X13. While on the bus, we may have missed our stop. As we approach the end everyone exits, but you know we thought well maybe it is the next one.... 5 minutes later... the bus comes to a screeching halt and the non English speaking bus driver looks in the mirror and throws his hands up. We smile and shake our heads saying "We don't know" ( Common theme throughout the week). He smiles and continues... 1 Minutes later... Back to where we started! Let's try it again! 1 Hour later we make it to the port, where we stay for 5 minutes and decide to go back... As it may not have been successful, it was well worth it... We have explored Greece by Metro, bus, bus fights, lots of stares and lots of smiles and us saying paraklom (please in greek) the only word we have learned all week!

Today we finally made it to the Acropolis + what an absolute gorgeous day! We woke up early and climbed our way to the top... unfortunately they are preserving, well not unfortunately, but there was quite a bit of scaffolding around the Parthenon. Regardless, it was great to see, especially for us architecture students!

Attn Americans:
1.March and 70 degrees Fahrenheit is still winter... wear heavy sweaters + leather jacket.
2. do not wear sandals... we WILL get stared at.
3. Pedestrians do NOT have the right of way.
4. Always wear your sunglasses... Once they go on, you COMMIT.
5. Do not stay in Omonia... It is the roughest area of Greece... Sorry Mom+Dad, you live and you learn I guess :)
6. The metros are impeccable, they are privately owned... I think NY could learn a thing or two.
7. Make sure you experience Greece on the sunshine express... it is life-changing!
8. Europeans actually drink casually... Lisa "its the weirdest thing people don't drink to get drunk?"
9. Eat as much as possible... order any vegetables, they are delicious! Greek coffee= thick, so beware!
Last but not least....
10. Greece's uniformed men are notably more attractive.

Well until tomorrow...

Our internet connenection is too slow here to upload pictures, but hopefully on Sunday in Genoa, Italy I will be able to post some!
